GIORGIO MORODER - GIVIN' PROPS!

Giorgio Moroder is one of my biggest influences in music - ever.

He pioneered so many things, so many sounds - I love them all and I've decided to work on a Giorgio Moroder Tribute Mix. There is such great material to work with: "Harmony" Suzi Lane, "I Feel Love" Donna Summer, "Flashdance" Irene Cara, "The Runner" The Three Degrees... and "Sunset People" for heaven's sake!!!!!! I love his hypnotic melodic trippy disco sound. Upon first hearing Giorgio Moroder's own anthem "I Want To Rock You", I knew I was hearing the sound of the future - so fresh, utterly new and yet it worked beautifully - never too sweet and never too techno cold - such good stuff.

In my opinion... he CREATED modern music.

I thought I'd share this awesome peek of the legendary Giorgio Moroder. Oh did I mention... that he created the first extended disco mix (Love To Love You Baby), created the standard 4 on the floor drum loop AND created the first high energy disco song (I Feel Love)? Yes- he created and defined an entire genre of music.

Pure Genius!

Jordan Roseman (DJ Earworm) has outdone himself in a production that really sparkles. Besided the individual songs used to create this piece - the format of the "mash-up" seems incredibly appropriate as 2008 will be remembered as the year this mix form hit its peak (mix and matched acapellas over instrumentals).

To add the decidant cherry to the top of this audio confection, Jordan created a stunning video montage to accompany it.

LOLLIPOP'S WINTER SOLSTICE DANCE MIX

When the temperature drops – you'll be able to warm yourself with the blazing beats & sizzling hot vocals of my latest mix - Lollipop's Winter Solstice: Equinoctial Dance Mix 2.009.

This continuous dance mix honors the winter solstice which occurs at the instant when the Sun's position in the sky is at its greatest angular distance on the other side of the equatorial plane from the observer. Worldwide, interpretation of the event has varied from culture to culture, but most cultures hold recognition of rebirth, involving holidays, festivals, gatherings, rituals or other celebrations. Celebrating the winter solstice is an ancient idea older than written history. The harvest was in yet it was not yet time to plant again. People were stuck indoors with each other between two seasons of heavy work – the timing seemed perfect for a festival! Early Egyptian & Persian traditions merged in ancient Rome into a festival for the god of seed-time, Saturn. The people gave themselves up to wild joy - feasting, giving gifts & decorating their homes with greenery (sound familiar?) As the old year died, rules of ordinary living were relaxed. During the winter solstice festivals the usual order of the year was suspended: businesses, courts and schools were closed; grudges/quarrels forgotten; and even wars were interrupted or postponed while cross-dressing, masquerades and merriment of all kinds prevailed. As Roman culture became more licentious, so did the celebrations.

It is in this joyous spirit that I created this mix which has all the hottest tunes that will be packing dance floors this winter. Included are the season's essential remixers turning out some new pop flavors with absolutely ALL the dancefloor divas in attendance, seamlessly mixed into a frothy concoction to take you on a mystical musical journey. I know you’ll love it!

SONIC CHILL GLOBAL GROOVES 2008

As a very, very special treat -

I'm proud to be able to debut and share this new classic in Chill compilations, Andrew Sonic's Global Grooves 2008.

I have to confess, this is one of Andrew Sonic's most comprehensive mixes I've heard to date. He scoured the globe to gather the planet's finest down-tempo music (I didn't even know Greece produced such tracks). The end result is one of those rare "more than the sum of it's parts" creation. I've had the beta version of this mix in my CD player for 6 weeks already and I still love it, finding nuances like trippy Arabic percussion patterns, Chinese and Polynesian instrumentation, and Indian & Brazilian vocal parts intertwined into one of the most creative mixes I've ever heard.
